Emphases of Training Opportunities (Adult, Weak)It is possible to do one "minor" rotation in one of the following: pediatric neuropsychology, neurorehabilitation, forensic psychology, geropsychology, or therapy. These are very time-limited experiences through a community partner or our sibling Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Training Program; however, postdocs should not expect to develop advanced competencies in these fields as they are considered experiences only.
Availability of Patient Populations (Adult, Strong)Patients are mostly rural and low income veterans. There is extensive opportunity to see patients with dementias (Alzheimer's, vascular, LBD, FTLD, substance-induced, etc.), TBI, comorbid psychiatric disorders (especially PTSD, depression, anxiety), and adult ADHD.
Availability of Patient Populations (Adult, Moderate)While not extensive, there is some exposure to patients wtih progressive or secondary-progressive MS (and other inflammatory conditions), ALS, seizure disorders, CNS metastases/primary neoplasms, immunocompromise, and severe mental illness (schizophrenia and bipolar).
Availability of Patient Populations (Adult, Weak)Limited number of patients from racial/ethnically diverse backgrounds.
