Additional Notes

The fellowship offers two tracks: Pediatric and Adult. The primary goal is to prepare trainees to become well-rounded neuropsychologists, fully equipped to succeed in the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABPP) certification process and to pursue careers in interdisciplinary, hospital-based, and academic medical settings. Both tracks are recruiting for the training years 2026-2028.

Fellows participate in three rotations annually, each lasting four months. One of these rotations will include experience in the non-adult or non-pediatric track, as applicable. Additionally, fellows complete one year of intervention minors. Both tracks provide protected time for a variety of didactic activities, including attending brain dissections, the Neuropsychology Didactic Series, the Professional Development Seminar, and the Optional Individual Differences Seminar. Fellows are actively involved in language mapping during awake craniotomies and Wada procedures as they occur, with opportunities to observe various neurosurgeries and neuromodulation procedures when available. Throughout the fellowship, a minimum of 10% of the time is dedicated to research.

ADULT TRACK:

Requires one year of minor rotations in intervention, including experiences in the Brain Tumor Clinic, Cognitive Rehabilitation, Psychotherapy, and the Functional Disorder Clinic.

There is potential exposure to forensic neuropsychology through a faculty member who is dually board-certified in neuropsychology and forensic neuropsychology.

Opportunities to gain experience in clinics such as the ALS Clinic are available upon interest.

Fellows attend Neurology Grand Rounds, Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry Grand Rounds, Epilepsy Rounds, Neuromodulation Rounds, and Brain Tumor Boards, depending on their rotations and supervisors.

A year-long supervision experience is provided, preparing fellows for professional practice by overseeing practicum students or other trainees.

PEDIATRIC TRACK:

Pediatric fellows spend approximately one day per week in multidisciplinary clinics, depending on their current rotation supervisor. These clinics include Neuromuscular Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, NF-1, Congenital Heart Disease, and Concussion clinics.

There are opportunities for brief consultations on inpatient units or the epilepsy monitoring unit, depending on placement and availability.
Outpatient experiences span a wide range of conditions, including epilepsy, TBI, congenital heart disease, genetic disorders, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders, and pediatric cancers. Training in specialized assessments (such as deaf/hard-of-hearing evaluations, pre- and post-surgical epilepsy assessments, brief screening batteries, and preschool/toddler assessments) is available.

Assessment of autism within the context of neurological or complex medical conditions is common, with training in the ADOS-2 and other ASD instruments strongly preferred but not required.

Opportunities for supervision of practicum students, research assistants, or other trainees may be available, depending on scheduling and interest.

Some brief consults on inpatient services or the epilepsy monitoring unit may be offered, subject to placement and availability.
