| Additional Notes | The Neuropsychology Residency Program is a 2-year fully APA accredited Neuropsychology specialty residency and APCCN member program. We recruit one position annually, maintaining a cohort of 1 first year resident and 1 second year resident. They work as part of a team of 3 neuropsychologists, a neuropsychology intern, an a psychometrician. Please carefully read through eligibility requirements found at https://www.va.gov/oaa/hpt-eligibility.asp. Covid-19 vaccination remains a requirement and exemptions are not guaranteed. While the state of Michigan does allow recreational and medical marijuana use, the use of either or any other illicit substances would prohibit employment in a federal facility. We participate in the APPCN Neuropsychology Match, interviewing on various dates in January 2024. Interviews include meeting with neuropsychology supervisors as well as an opportunity to join a Q&A session with current residents. Neuropsychology trainees participate in clinical work under ABPP board certified Clinical Neuropsychologists and attend neuropsychology specific clinical didactics, board certification preparation, and observation of brain cuttings for forensic and clinical neurology autopsy cases at Western Michigan School of Medicine. Residents join ongoing research projects. (2023-2026 project: Use of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment 8.3 in a Veteran Population: Relationship to Comprehensive Neuropsychological Measures). Supervision of an intern is part of second year training. We meet licensure requirements for the state of Michigan provided the resident has one full year of supervision after the Michigan limited license conferral date. Residents are expected to sit for the EPPP early in their second year. Comprehensive benefits are available to VA trainees, including medical insurance, paid sick and vacation leave, 11 federal holidays, as well as 5 days of guaranteed authorized leave for professional activities during the training year. After 90 days, residents may purchase dental/vision insurance. After 90 days, residents may be eligible for day care subsidy. Except under very unusual circumstances, all application materials must be submitted through the APPA CAS. |
