The APPCN Lisa D. Stanford Excellence in Training Award

The Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN) is seeking nominations for the 2026 Lisa D. Stanford Excellence in Training Award.

This award honors a neuropsychologist who embodies the spirit of excellence in mentorship and advocacy to which Dr. Stanford dedicated her career. Honorees demonstrate their commitment to expanding access to care and training through teaching, supervision, community outreach, and advocacy activities above and beyond the usual work of a neuropsychologist. Through these endeavors, this individual has a positive impact on trainees, colleagues, psychometrists, allied professionals, and the patients themselves.

An honorary plaque will be presented at the APPCN General Membership Meeting at the INS conference.

Award Criteria:

Nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Training Director or Faculty Member of an APPCN Member Program in good standing
  • Has demonstrated an outstanding record of mentorship as illustrated in 1-2 nomination letters and broadly evident in their CV; no minimum number of years of experience is required

Submission Guidelines:

Nominations from current or former trainees or colleagues and self-nominations are welcome.

The nomination materials should include, in a single submission:

  • At least one (1), and no more than two (2) nomination letters, each no longer than two (2) pages single-spaced. Letters should provide detailed information about the nominee and their qualifications for this award, particularly speaking to teaching, supervision, community outreach, and advocacy activities. Nominators are welcome to collaborate on nomination letters.
  • A recent copy of the nominee’s CV, including evidence of activities related to the focus of the award.
